Project Description
The La Mure narrow-gauge railway is the world’s first electrified railway line, put into service in 1888. After a landslide occurred in October 2010 and 11 years of closure, the most beautiful line in the Alps reopened during the summer of 2021. Originally a mining train, it transported anthracite from the mines on the Matheysin plateau to the Grenoble urban area. The end of mining activity transformed the train into a tourist attraction, preserving the memory of this rich history.
The La Mure train route includes:
– 5 tunnels
– 3 viaducts
– 6 municipalities crossed
– 1 hour journey time
– 15 km of railway track
– Speeds between 20 and 30 km/h
Our Services
TRACTEDIS is responsible for the sizing of the cables linking rail-to-rail along the tourist railway line between La Mure and Le Grand Balcon.
The minimum cable cross-section must take into account and satisfy the following three conditions:
-
The cable’s withstand capability under short-circuit current without exceeding the maximum allowable temperature of the insulation (determination of the minimum section: S1).
-
The cable’s withstand capability under permanent average current (determination of the minimum section: S2).
-
The cable’s withstand capability under maximum instantaneous current (determination of the minimum section: S3).
The sizing results correspond to the most demanding operating case for the electrical system.
